The Hoarder & the Gold
Once upon a time, there lived a hoarder, Mr. Pie. He was very famous for hoarding stuff in his house but never using it. Mr. Pie had a habit of storing all the money he earned instead of spending it on items of his use. He was so greedy that he never spent a penny on his family and friends. He paid low salaries to his workers.
Mr. Pie, the miser, started storing gold. He dug a hole in his backyard. He buried all the gold he had gathered in that hole. And he covered the hole with a heavy stone. Whenever he gathered more gold, the more miserable he became. He used to conceal all the gold in the garden. Mr. Pie used to check daily whether the gold was in its place or not. He used to lift the heavy stone and would get satisfied on seeing the gold there.
A thief knew the routine of Mr. Pie. One day when he was not at home. He went into the garden, lifted the stone, and stole the gold. When Mr. Pie came home he was shocked to see his gold missing. He started crying loudly. All his friends and neighbors came in and consoled him.
Two days later one of his workers found that bag of gold. He came running to his master and told him. The worker was very happy. But Mr. Pie was so greedy that he tricked his worker and started shouting that the worker had stolen his coins. It had 70 coins earlier but now has 50 coins. He said that the worker has stolen his coins and is a thief.
The worker cried and begged that he was not a thief. He has not stolen the coins. He said that when he found the bag it only contained 50 coins. But Mr. Pie denied believing in him and took the matter to the court.
The judge asked the worker and he beseeched that he brought the bag as it is. But Mr. Pie was steadfast that he has stolen gold. The judge was wise. He got to the root of the case. He also knew about the selfish nature of Mr. Pie. He said that the bag of Mr. Pie contained 70 gold coins and this one contains 50 so this is not his bag. He awarded it to the worker for his decency. And Mr. Pie was left empty-handed.
