God’s Plan - short story read |
There lived a man called David. He was so lazy and sluggish that he couldn't even earn himself a living. He preferred to beg instead of doing some work. He fulfilled his hunger through the food he begged or stole from others. However, he was physically perfect for doing work.
One day, when he was hungry he entered a farm and saw fresh fruits hanging from the branches. He decided to steal the fruits and eat them. While he was trying to catch the apples the farmer came out of nowhere. Actually, he was sitting beneath the shade of another tree and David was so hungry that he didn't see him.
The farmer started running behind the thief but David escaped. When he stopped running he found himself in a forest. There he saw a deer with two limped legs. He was running happily in the forest. The lazy man was disappointed to see the deer because he thought that the limped deer can’t even find food for himself. The deer was not able to walk properly.
While he was in his thoughts he saw a lion coming from behind the trees with a dead animal in his mouth. He got scared and climbed up the tree. The deer was limping and had no option to stay still in front of the lion. David knew that the lion would kill the deer because he cannot even run to save his life. But he was shocked to see the scene. The lion instead of killing the deer gave him the meat he was holding in the mouth.
Seeing the situation David thought that this was God’s plan and he will also get some food in the same way. He remained in the forest for two days and waited for the food or God’s help to come. But to his dismay, neither the food came nor God’s help. When he was unable to bear the hunger he decided to go out and look for food.
While he was going he found a wise man. He gave him food to eat and water to drink. David told him all the story of the lion and the deer. David said, `Why is God so kind to the deer and so cruel to me’?
The wise man said, "Son, you are mistaken. God wants you to be like the lion and not to be like the deer."
Moral:
Work hard to succeed. Don’t wait for God’s help. Work hard. God helps them who help themselves.
